A World Apart

Thinking about what to write today I thought back to growing up.  By now you will know that I was born and brought up during the Second World War in London. 

I thought back to the Festival of Britain staged in 1951 shortly after the Second World War ended and Britain and her people were badly in need of some cheering up.

The south bank of the Thames was decided as the perfect place for the Festival as large areas had been demolished duringthe Blitzand rebuilding was beginning to take shape. Much was written and told about the wonders of the Festiva . And to a very young girl, they were wonders.
