I spent much of this lovely summer afternoon indoors researching for a post I was going to use today. I sat down one hour ago to write it and had all my facts together; I just had to put them all together in a cohesive form that hopefully would intrigue you. Having spent that hour typing somehow I lost it all. Tomorrow is another day and so I shall make another attempt to get it written.
Doesn’t it bug you when this happens!
So what to write about now that there is only 35 minutes left in this day. Could I tell you about an idle morning spent with my daughter?
We started at the Salvation Army Family Store where we dropped off more things from my downsizing. They are always happy to see me there as I have been dropping things off often in the past couple of months.
Then we went off to the garden centre for some plants to put on my small deck. Did I tell you I painted it yesterday?
Then a stop for coffee to round off a very pleasant idle summer morning.
So not quite the well researched post I planned, but as we rarely spend any extended time together I thought I would share this with you. However, I must say here we now have dinner together each evening but it’s never just the two of us.

I love these daily reports. I like writing them, though it sometimes feels like a bit of a cheat, and I truly enjoy reading them. Thanks!

Time spent with your beloved daughter must be time well spent – and maybe your second draft will be even better than the first? Well done for beating the deadline!

Thanks Cat. Have to dredge deep for the second draft.

You say: “Doesn’t it bug you when this happens!”
I say, it is a pain in the neck when this happens!
But thanks for telling us about your day. I find downsizing an extremely difficult process. But with the help of Caroline and her partner Matthew we hope we’re going to get somewhere this year. We now made a start, anyway.

Yes it certainly helps when the young are on hand. When is the move planned for and how far away are you moving? I hope all goes well.

No move is planned yet, Judith. We try to reduce somewhat anyway. It is not so easy to decide what has to be thrown away.

So true. That first moment when you have an idea and you get excited and jot down a few notes/reminders. Then when you finally get to the business of putting it all together… the enthusiasm is gone. It’s 12 degrees here this morning, so I am wishing I were painting outside. And what’s better than idle time once in a while?

Yes a morning spent with my daughter, just the two of us is rare indeed and to be treasured. Another lovely day here. We are so lucky this year. Often, summer forgets about this little corner of the world.

How jealous I am to hear you speak of a Summer morning. Though it’s not raining for a change the day is still a bit dismal.
I hope we’re going to be treated to a picture at some stage of the plants out on your newly painted deck.

Hahaha down to the wire … love it! Glad you had a lovely summer day. I am sitting in my frozen car waiting for it to defrost enough to drive! Just starting my day!

Hope the car defrosted enough for you to see to be able to drive. I really don’t miss those Canadian winters.

Yes, given enough time and gas the car will defrost. I can’t complain since winter came 3 months late.

I would have a much easier time committing to a year of daily posts if I could start in the summer.

Kudos to you for starting over and sharing your lovely day. Recovering from losing what was planned is not easy. Believe me – I know.

Well it wasn’t the first time with WordPress and I’m sure it wont be the last but I was glad to tell of my day with my daughter. Very rarely do we spend that amount of time just the two of us.

This sounds like a lovely morning. We woke to a dusting of snow. It was nice to think summer thoughts, errands and coffee with one’s daughter.

I am looking forward to seeing a picture of your painted deck with lovely flowers growing there. See? now you have a post idea if, by some horrible chance, the post monster swallows another well worked, well worded post.

Well I thought it was happening again this evening when the whole thing locked up. Fortunately, it sorted itself out somehow. And thanks for the idea for another post.

You made it! Although we’re not downsizing yet, I have a desire to purge some of the stuff that has followed us to this house. I’m going to go room to room and clean out closets and drawers with the goal of getting rid of the surplus, outdated, unwanted items we have and that our children have left here with us. Good for you.

Thanks for the comment. Yes it’s great to be rid of “stuff”. I thought I had been ruthless before I moved in with the Architect but obviously not.
