October gave a party; The leaves by hundreds came – The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples, And leaves of every name. The Sunshine spread a carpet, And everything was grand, Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band.
George Cooper.
Theresa at run-a-round-ranch posted photos of spring wildflowers yesterday and as we are now in autumn/fall I decided to post some photos of our trees in all their glory.
The Fern Leaf Maple is certainly changing colour and almost daily.
The beech forest is a perfect backdrop to the Lacy Lady Maples, but the Bloodgood Maple is looking very sad except for the new leaves sprouting.
The Architect used to live two sites down from where we are now and this is the drive down to that house.
The Pin Oak in the neighbour’s garden
View of both neighbour’s houses with their trees looking beautiful.
So while we are happy for our friends in the Northern Hemisphere who are enjoying the Spring, we are enjoying the Autumn/Fall here and its almost daily changes of colours to our trees.
Note – Please substitute May for October in the opening quote as we are in the Southern Hemisphere.

My first thought was, why write about autumn now? Then I remembered where you are! Lovely colours in those trees, enjoy this beautiful tine of year.

I agree. It Spring going towards Summer here so we are experiencing the exact opposite of what you are in terms of leaves appearing or going brown. Regardless, these are beautiful photographs, and I can never see too much of this kind of thing

I never thought about how odd it must be for people in the Southern Hemisphere to read autumn poetry with months like October in them. And I just read a blog a few minutes ago, and the blogger showed us a picture of her pin oak whose leaves were just appearing in all their spring green newness. Now I see your pin oak picture with the red leaves, soon to drop. Fascinating!

After so many years I am now able to cope with the upside-down seasons. Each season has its own wonders. Thanks for commenting Susan. 🙂

Love Cooper’s poem — such imagery!! We’re into Spring where I am (Central Illinois, USA), and allergies are plaguing everybody. Nice to see these Autumn photos and know that it won’t be long before we’re experiencing our own cooler weather — but we have to get past hot August, ha!

August is a miserable time here. Usually wet and windy but we just live through it knowing that Spring will be here in September Thanks for reading and commenting.

Hi Patti – yes they certainly are, but now winter is bringing it’s biting wind and heavy rains. But we only have August to get through before spring comes in September.
