The other day I received this from a friend.
Inner Peace:
If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat plain food every day and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
…Then You Are Probably ………
The Family Dog!
LOL. I didn’t see it coming despite your title. I was reading along thinking how admirable those practices would be and how I should strive to achieve them. Thanks for the laugh.

Have done without the caffeine, alcohol and drugs for a long, long time but have not started barking yet. I still, however, need those first 2 cigarettes to get rolling.

So very true. And, as I type, our two large mutts are passed out on the bed beside me. Life is good.

Oh I am so glad that somebody else allows their friends onto the bed with them. Lotte sleeps on her rug on the foot of the bed every night.

My late husband’s cousin always said if he came back after death he would want to come back as our dog. Well I must say that Lotte has a cruisy life and from all these comments, so do all the dogs owned by my blogging friends.

Ahhh! I do often envy the life of our dog (and cat)!
By the way, I am not sure I could start the morning without caffeine! I could probably downsize to decaff as long as no one told me it was not the real stuff. Is swear I am addicted to the warm mug and coffee bean aroma.

I start with a cup of tea but then it’s into the coffee for me. And having never tasted decaf I don’t think I want to try it. I too love the warm mug and the aroma of real coffee. 🙂

Refuting the theory that one leads a dog’s life … ?
Our family Lab dog,Edward,is the boss of the house and he keeps teaching us lessons of patience, relaxation, devotion and above all the art of the unconditional love.
Loved your post with the pithy aphorisms,Judith and of course,Lotte’s image showing her living a totally dog’s life …
Hope your 2012 days are bright and hopeful.
