Saturday Stroll

Coffee.  Garden.  Coffee.  Does a good morning need anything else?  Betsy Cañas Garmon, www.wildthymecreative.com

It has been the most beautiful day here and I could not put off the weeding any longer.  It’s amazing how if the sun is shining everything seems to be easier. The weeds are taken care of and now it was necessary to go to the garden centre once again to buy more plants.

Azaleas

I decided that I needed two brightly coloured Azaleas for the back patio that gets little sunshine at this time of the year.

Back steps

Then three white ranunculus and red pots for the brick steps up to the upper patio.

Yellow rununculas

And for no reason other than that they looked so good, three yellow ranunculus.  I shall find a place for them tomorrow.

We finished the walk this afternoon with a climb up to the Massey Memorial.   More on Massey and his memorial tomorrow.

God made rainy days so gardeners could get the housework done.  ~Author Unknown

  1. Apart from anything else, thats a very impressive use of your I phone. From what I can see you’re garden looks really beautiful.

  2. I have had my iphone for about a year and am just now starting to use the camera. Your photos show what great quality pictures one can get with today’s phones. Enjoyed your stroll.

    • Well I had a couple of strange shots – shadows of me and a friend standing in the sunshine. But hey we all have to start somewhere. And now I don’t have to kick myself when Lotte and I are out without a camera.:)

  3. Nice red pots on the steps. I’m putting off the Iphone getting for as long as possible, by the time I get as far as getting one they’ll probably have brought out something new instead. 🙂

    • Well I had to get a new phone as I dropped the last one in a puddle and they don’t survive that. I had planned to weed the brick steps today but the rain came and so I was let off that chore. They’ll look even better then. 🙂

  4. Lovely flowers . . . and great quote about rainy days. 😀

  5. I like the rainy day quote, too. You and your phone take very good pictures! That path looks like a lovely place for a stroll, and I love the red pots–and the brick steps. Now that my garden is fading, I can enjoy yours for the next few months. It really pays to have a friend on the other side of the planet! 🙂

    • We have lots of reasons to be friends on different sides of the planet and this is one of them. I have been meaning to get the pots for the brick steps for ages and they jumped out at me yesterday. I am so glad I bought them 🙂

  6. Nicely done, Judith! Clearly, you are the master of your iPhone! 🙂

  7. Great pictures! While you are getting your summer garden going I am getting ready to replant the pots and planters with fall flowers. One of the nice things about living in the South is that a lot of plants thrive in winter and the pansies bloom all winter.

All your talk of walks with Lottie so makes me want a dog!

  8. Coffee in the garden here too today…..and some weeding and tidying and feeding of plants. Your walks with Lotte take in so many wonderful parts of Wellington.

    • It’s quite amazing. I have lived in Wellington on and off since 1972 and still find lovely places to walk. I like to share these gems with our friends from around the world. 🙂

  9. love the quote at the end. your garden will be even more beautiful with these new additions.

The ranunculus in the red pots look so cheerful climbing the brick steps. Lovely!

  12. Made me smile and a bit envious as we enter into the fall and colder season here in New England.

    • Well yesterday it poured with rain but it didn’t dampen the spirit of the die hard rugby supporters who are here for the World Cup. The rest of us went about our business of walking in the rain. 🙂

  13. Nice photos! Glad to see you seem to be getting the hang of your new phone! 🙂
